This service began with a simple question: could there be a way to create a path between someone who wants to go on the pilgrimage but can no longer make the journey on their own, and someone who wants to help make that wish come true?<\/p>\n
Age, physical strength, illness, work, distance. The reasons may differ, but the feeling of \u201cSomeday, I want to do the pilgrimage\u201d can remain in a person\u2019s heart for many years.<\/p>\n
Rather than letting that wish simply fade away, I wanted to find a way to fulfill it in the form of a gift. That is where Ohenro Gift Service began.<\/p>\n
I have always been someone who loves visiting different places. In the past, I traveled around the world with a backpack and explored many parts of Japan as well.<\/p>\n
Along the way, I experienced many different styles of travel, by plane, train, bus, and motorcycle, and had the chance to connect with the atmosphere of many different places.<\/p>\n
The Shikoku pilgrimage was one of those journeys.<\/p>\n
I once completed the Shikoku 88-Temple pilgrimage route by motorcycle.<\/p>\n
Traveling long distances from temple to temple was already a deeply memorable experience, but what stayed with me most were the walking pilgrims I passed along the way.<\/p>\n
Seeing them move forward one step at a time in silence, covered in sweat, left a strong impression on me.
\nWatching them pass through the temple gate and quietly place their hands together at the Main Hall and Daishi Hall made me think, \u201cSomeday, I want to walk this road with my own feet too.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was not a journey where simply getting from place to place was the goal, but one in which the very time spent walking held meaning.
\nFor me, the pilgrimage made that feeling clearer than ever.<\/p>\n
To me, the pilgrimage is not sightseeing or an activity. It is a sacred journey built on layers of faith and history.<\/p>\n
As one person walking this road, I hold deep respect for the Shikoku 88-Temple pilgrimage, where many of the temples belong to the Shingon tradition, and for Kobo Daishi Kukai himself.<\/p>\n
That is why, at Ohenro Gift Service, I consider the following to be essential:<\/p>\n
To observe proper etiquette at the temple gate, purification fountain, Main Hall, and Daishi Hall as carefully as possible<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
To act in a way that does not cause trouble or inconvenience to the temples or local communities<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
Not to promise spiritual blessings or wish fulfillment, or make exaggerated claims<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

What I hope to be through this service is not simply a \u201cproxy provider,\u201d but someone who walks while carrying the wishes of a loved one.<\/p>\n
I hope that by doing so, I can help make this a meaningful gift, one that leaves a little less regret behind.<\/p>\n

As someone who accepts payment to walk this pilgrimage, I believe it is important to be sincere not only in the final result, but throughout the entire process.<\/p>\n
What this service can do is walk through Shikoku on behalf of someone important, visit each temple with care and respect for proper etiquette, and deliver a nokyocho stamp book and a record of the journey as proof of that effort.<\/p>\n
What this service cannot do is promise spiritual blessings or wish fulfillment, nor can it proceed through danger or unreasonable conditions.<\/p>\n
Ohenro Gift Service is not a service that sells miracles.<\/p>\n
Instead, I want it to be a service that helps create something real: the fact that \u201cwe truly did everything we could to honor this wish.\u201d<\/p>\n
